This is the second solo exhibition of Haruna Sato, i.e. the first one in 2 years
at our Gallery. Since then her activities have been outstanding through a |
number of her participations in various art fairs both in Japan and overseas, |
e.g. admitted to Tokyo Wonder Wall in 2009, her first solo exhibition in Seoul, |
etc. Through her intensive activities she has now established herself as a |
popular artist, having ardent fans in 6 different countries. She has already |
committed herself to solo exhibitions next year in Tokyo and Shanghai as well |
as to NYC Art Fair and is definitely expected to further her career. |
Why can her works have a common sense of value regardless of nations, |
religions and peoples? I would say that it owes to her success of her series |
“Baby Temperature” the motif of which is “babies” whose body temperature |
is high, which is a straightforward concept, easiest to understand in the |
current society. She cleverly chose to express “temperature” of human |
beings through her paintings.Sato does not, however, paint the skin of |
“babies”. She continues to grope for her theme “the inner temperature of |
human beings” through her paintings. She challenges again this very subject |
at this upcoming solo exhibition.I look forward to her showing us another |
possibility mostly through her installation works. |
