Yugo Kohrogi continuing his vigorous activities had his
solo exhibition in July last year and thereafter participated
in art fairs in Korea and Taiwan.
As one of the artists who keep drawing international
attention he continues to develop himself.
This is his second solo exhibition in Tokyo since last year.
The “l” Series he had continued until last year was very well
accepted by international collectors.
We would like to introduce a new series “Smoke”.
For Yugo Kohrogi it is another step forward toward another
internationalstage where, we trust, that he will play a more
important role.
Kzuhiro Seki, Director
“Fire/Flowers”
There are flowers where forest fire often breaks out.
The heat of flame opens the hulls of flowers dropping the
seeds onto the earth, and the flowers rooted in the ashes
of the burnt field will fly far out in the wind, each like a ball of fuzz,
as if they had a mission of reviving the burnt out earth.
In our cycle of living, life and death are one and the same,
facing each other. These works of mine were prompted by the
sudden death of a person very dear and close to me.
In the flame are all those who passed on, leaving me behind.
This is,however, not a depiction of the sad fact.
It is so simple that it can be described as pleasure and happiness.
Neither is it just to take things positively.
All inclusive,I extract reality like the head and tail of a coin.

The name of the flower opened by flame is PROTEA.
Surely they drift over the smoky earth, just as we ourselves live,
retracing our memories and floating and roaming.
